enfoldment

The appropriation of wound cloth through a series of irregular twists. The entire length of cloth is wound up through a disorderly enfoldment as a result of tension that arises between opposite forces. The process is extended with pure unbleached cotton (roughly 15m) and produces an amorphous vesicle-like object. The form assimilates into itself aspects of its surroundings, literally incorporating grass and twigs that become entangled in its form while twisted. It presents the moment in time where flux gives way to form, and emergence of a new form.
